CHAMELEONS 101

A Chameleons Main Diet

A chameleon has a very large variety of food. So that makes it easier for them to survive in the wild rather than an animal with a smaller variety of food. All chameleons are insectivores which means that they only eat insects. A chameleons diet mostly consists of grasshoppers, locus, and flies.

Grasshopper

Grasshoppers are the main diet of chameleons. Grasshoppers are a good source of calcium and nutrition for chameleons. The only thing that chameleons probably don't like about grasshoppers is that they are extremely fast and have great reflexes so most of the time they get away and don't get eaten. But when they do get caught thy are a good source of fiber for that lucky and full chameleon.

Locust

Chameleons also eat locusts frequently. Locust are full of fiber and calcium and probably taste good to that hungry chameleon.  A lot of people think that locusts are  type of grasshopper but they are not. Locusts are very likely to carry parasites and other various diseases so it is not weird for a chameleon to die after they have enjoyed a tasty locust. But I'm sure it is well worth the risk for a hungry chameleon.

Fly

Flies are another main diet in the life of a chameleon. Like grasshoppers and locusts flies are rich with fiber and calcium so that the chameleon gets a good and healthy meal. But on the other side there is also a highly great chance that the fly may have a parasite or any other life threatening diseases. So although a fly may be a tasty meal, it also may kill the chameleon.
