CHAMELEONS 101

HOW A CHAMELEON CATCHES AND EATS ITS FOOD

As you can see they way a chameleon catches its food is very  unique. What they o is they use their long and sticky  tongue as a spear and shoot it at their prey. The really cool part is that the force of the blow by the chameleons tongue actually paralyzes the insect. Once the chameleon has the insect in its mouth it chews on it just like a human does the only difference is that they have really tiny teeth so it might be a little harder for them. Then once they  have chewed up their food to the point where they can swallow they swallow and then the food goes down its digestive track and into its stomach where it gets digested by gastric juices in the stomach. And then just like humans it gets pooped out.
